Fletcher Meadema, PhD

Fletcher Meadema started Grouse Trail Works after finishing his PhD in Geospatial Environmental Analysis at Virginia Tech. He also earned a Master of Science conducting recreation ecology research and a Bachelor of Architecture from VT. He was introduced to trail management while working as an Appalachian Trail Ridgerunner in 2013 and he has been engaged in research and projects that support trail management since 2016. He is an avid trail runner and long-distance backpacker, having completed the Pacific Crest Trail, over 2,000 miles of the Continental Divide Trail, and the southern half of the Appalachian Trail. His broad academic, professional, and recreational experience make him a uniquely skilled trails consultant.
